Meridel Gatterman and her rescue dog, Sadie, are both cancer survivors. At their remote home in the Colorado Rockies, each helped the other through cancer recovery and isolation during the pandemic. Teller County Regional Animal Shelter (TCRAS) coordinated Sadie’s life-saving medical treatment and brought Meridel and Sadie together.
Mutual Rescue’s films, book, and programs illustrate how “mutual” and “rescue” so often converge when people help homeless companion animals.
